This Paper describes the Characteristic analysis of high impedance fault(HIF) using EMTDC in transmission system. Arcing earth fault occurs as a random event. If some faulted power system component(line, bus, transformer, etc.) is not isolated from the system quickely. It may lead to power system instability or break-up the system through the action of other automatic protective devices. A protection system must therefore remove the faulted element from the rest of the power system as quickely as possible.
So we are present the actual faulted power system and then actual datas were compared with EMTDC output quantities which have line currents, power flows and loads. We propose the new arcing wave methods and analysis the arc characteristic of new arcing wave methods.
