『월간야담』의 전대 여성관련담 개작양상과 의미 = The Aspect and The Meaning of Adaptation on Stories related to Woman in The Last Period by Monthly Yadam

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 여성관련담을 중심으로 『월간야담』이 전대 야담을 개작한 양상을 구체적으로 살피는 것이 목적이다. 『월간야담』에서 전대의 야담을 개작한 여성관련담은 25 편 정도로, 남녀의 결연에 관한 이야기와 현부 이야기가 많다. 당시 연애에 대한 사회적 관심과 아내로서 여성의 역할이 강조되었던 사회적 상황과 무관하지 않다. 전대 야담을 개작한 여성관련담에서 내용의 획기적인 변개를 찾기는 어려웠다. 『월간야담』의 전대 야담 개작이 내용을 부연하는데 그친 까닭이다. 부연으로 인한 서사의 확장은 인간의 자연스러운 감정을 드러냄으로써 통속으로의 변개를 가져오기도 했다. 야담의 내용을 본질적으로 변화시킨 개작은 <금강의 수우>, <위주복수>, <송진사의 기연>에서 이루어졌다. 전대 야담을 답습하다 결말에서 여성의 자결로 극적인 반전을 꾀했다. 일타홍이 남성 가문의 번영을 위해 독약을 마시며, 남편을 살해하고 부정을 저지른 음부가 속죄하며 칼로 목을 찌르며, 과부가 정절을 지키기 위해 연못에 투신한다. 『월간야담』이 추구한 재래 정서로의 회귀는 남성중심사고의 지배를 받는 경직된 여성인물들을 창출하였던 것이다. 하지만 여성들의 죽음이 무의미하지만은 않았다. 일타홍은 심희수의 첩이 아닌 유일한 아내로서의 소임을 다하고자 했고, 음부는 여성이 부정을 저지르고 남편을 죽인 원인이 조혼이라는 악습에 있음을 제기했으며, 과부의 죽음은 축첩하는 남성들의 도덕성에 대한 비판을 내포하고 있기 때문이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to consider a concrete aspect on unofficial historical tales adapted by Monthly Yadam, with stories related to woman in the center. Monthly Yadam adapted unofficial historical tales in the last period, and stories related to woman among tales were about twenty-five volumes. And most of the contents was about love between sexes, making a connection, and virtuous wives. Such a tendency was connected with social environment in those days, namely, the increase in love and kisaeng. And besides, the role of woman as a wife was emphasized then. It is no easy to find an epoch making change of contents among adapted stories related to woman. Because Monthly Yadam expatiated on the story in the course of rewrite, and the description of deeds was expanded. In such a course, a sympathetic field between the sexes was inserted. In cases of <Unfavorable rain of the Kum River>, <Song Jinsa`s curious coincidence>, and <Wijuboksu>, their substances were adapted in essence by Monthly Yadam. Iltahong took poison for prosperity of a male family, a widow drowned herself in a pond to lead a chaste life, and a lewd woman committed suicide by stabbing a dagger into her neck. A return to conventional feelings by Monthly Yadam produced a stiffened image of woman under the male dominated society. Nevertheless, women in adapted tales revolted against status system, exposed an evil effect of early marriage, and stood against concubinage. Accordingly, their deaths had partly meaning.
