      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of stepping exercise program using rhythmic auditory stimulation(RAS) could improve on balance, gait cycle ratio and time in chronic stroke patients.
Twelve stroke patients who had agreed with the study were randomly assigned to either RAS exercise group(n=6) or control group(n=6). Both groups received rehabilitation exercise physical therapy 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. and RAS exercise group also participated in the RAS exercise program for 4 weeks(20 minutes a day, 3 times a week) To find out the effect, evaluated the balance(body sway surface) and gait cycle ratio and time by Gaitview system AFA-50.
In balance, body sway surface was significantly different within and between both groups(p<.05). In contact, midstance, propulsion phase gait cycle ratio, no significantly different within and between both groups(p>.05). but in gait cycle time, within-group comparison, RAS exercise group appeared to be significantly different for non-paralyzed limb and both lower limb gait cycle time difference(p<.05). Also, between-group comparison revealed that the gait cycle time difference of both lower limb significantly different at post-test between the groups(p<.05).
The result of this study show RAS using stepping exercise program is more effective to improve balance and gait cycle time in stroke patients than general rehabilitation exercise physical therapy.
