This thesis intends to study the problem of ethical value in N. Hartmann, complying with Hartmann's point of the ontological argument in his system.
Hartmann contends that the secondary fundamental subject of ethics-'What is valuable in the life and the world?'-is more comprehensive and precedent than the primary fundamental subject-'What should I do?' Kant searches for a base of ethical value at the pure practical reason, but Hartmann looks for a base of ethical oughtness at value.
Hartmann oppose that the recent ethical theory is inclined to attach importance to subjective moral consciousness and the analysis of its operation, makes an objective analysis of ethical value and constructs a huge system of value world.
hartmann gives many definitions of the ethical value and describes it in detail. According to him, ethical value is essential and absolute and has a character of principles. And ethical value is an a apriori being and ideal itself-being. Against Kantian formalism and subjectivism Hartmann's axiology asserts and a priori of objective content-that is, of values as ideal entities. Giving concrete description of values and virtues, Hartmann's interest remains metaphysical. This means that Hartmann displays intense interest in the ontological structures and laws of the ethical phenomena.
