This paper proposed a high-speed, low-power, low-noise digitally controlled oscillator(DCO) using dual cyclic DACs. The proposed DCO consists of two cyclic DACs and voltage controlled oscillator(VCO). This configuration results in good phase noise characteristic because of relatively small quantization noises. In addition, the proposed structure provides a wide oscillation frequency range as well as requires a small chip area. There, the proposed DCO can be used for various digital systems including mobile communication systems.
