In language education for non-native Korean speakers, the educational purpose is successful communication between parties of different cultural backgrounds. Here the crucial point is the ability to communicate between cultures. Communication is made up of verbal and nonverbal expressions. Nonverbal expressions reflect culture. Therefore, non-native Korean speakers can face difficulty in communicating in Korean due to the differences in the nonverbal expressions of Koreans and their native language. However, up to this point, most language education centers have offered only educational systems that focus on verbal expression, with barely any education on culture and nonverbal expression. This research looks into the types of nonverbal expression that reflect culture and examines Korean nonverbal expression to show how it differs from that of cultures of non-native Korean speakers. Using this information, whether these differences between such nonverbal expressions are included in Korean language textbooks as part of the syllabus is analyzed. Furthermore, a syllabus including the differences between the nonverbal expressions of non-native Korean speakers and Koreans are planned and suggested.
