Dong Wha Pharmaceutical co. is one of the oldest corporation incorporated in 1897 which is registered in Guinness Book.
This article examined the evolution of Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. since in 1897, and the effect of the corporation to business administration in Korea. Particular emphasis is placed on the managerial issues of production, R&D, marketing, financial management and personnel management and its relation to the management system.
In order to solve those issues, eight main periods are divided as follows;
1) The Start-up Period (1897~1936)
2) Second Incorporation Period (1937~1945)
3) Reconstruction Period (1946~1962)
4) Growth Period (1963~1972)
5) Development Period (1973~1981)
6) Take-off Period (1982~1995)
7) Innovation Period (1996~2002)
8) Challenge Period (2003~2007)
Though Mr. Min-Kang, the president of the corporation incorporated in 1897 and produced Hwalmyungsoo(Drink) and several drugs, Bodang Chang-Sik Yoon became the fifth president of Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. in Second Incorporation Period.
The effect of Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. to each field of Business Administration is as following;
(1) In the field of Business Administration, emphasized the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and discretional responsibility by the fifth president of the corporation from the starting-up period for fulfil the Dong Wha Spirit, that is the entrepreneurship of Chang-Sik Yoon.
(2) In the field of Research & Development, Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. centralized for producing new products attempting technical intensive method and high value-added industry during 110 years from incorporated period.
(3) In the field 0f Marketing, Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. registered as a first Korean Special Permission Company in 1909. The reason why is the brand value of the corporation increased in marketing gradually.
(4) In the field of Personnel Management, the fair and reasonable factors are very important for maintain the corporation. For Examples;

(5) In the field of Production Management, Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. induced for establishing high quality control system of GMP(Good Manufacturing Practice) in Korea with Swiss Sandos for technical arrangement in 1972.
(6) In the field of Management Information System, Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. took a measure to maximize business efficiency with communication through data-line management and short distance LAN construction in 1987. In 1993, the corporation constructed and expanded ON-LINE system on 12 branches and 3 local offices.
Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. has been manufactured Hwalmyngsoo(Drink) continuously in 110 years. And also, the corporation contributed for Korean business administration in Marketing, Personnel Management, Production Management, Research & Development, CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) respectively.
