The CAD/CAM system which is introduced and used in the recent machines and the manufacturing fields uses a 3 dimensional surface and solid model, so it has devised a simplicity of process and an improvement of productivity, which is between the design and production. However, despite the good use of this 3 dimensional model, it has some problems such as the overtime from modeling and the shortage of experts. To solve these problems and to best embody the computer design which was the original plan, the automatic design program is highlighted.
A gear is main machine element which is used for the power transmit device when it is short in the gear. To design the tooth profile about gear, it must have a lot of variables such as module, pressure angle, backlash, clearance and involute curve. But modeling for 3D gear is not easy to a beginner according to variables and numerical formulas.
So, in this study, we would develop the automatic design program that it can create a 3D model for the helical gear easily.
