충청의 자연과 민요문화권 = Cultural Regions and Nature of Chungcheong District : Focused on Rice-seedlings Planting Song

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글에서는 충청 지역의 민요 중 〈모심는 소리〉가 지역별로 어떻게 달리 불리는지를 고찰함으로써 이에 따라 민요문화권을 설정하고, 각 권역별 특징이 그 지역의 자연 지리적 환경과 어떠한 연관성을 가지고 있는지 살펴보았다. 충청지역의 민요문화권은 〈모심는 소리〉의 전승양상에 따라 동북부내륙권(아라리소리권), 동남부내륙권(정자소리권), 중북부내륙권(하나소리권), 중남부내륙권(상사소리권), 서부해안권(방아소리 외 기타소리권)으로 나눌 수 있다. 중남부내륙권이 충청의 중심부라고 할 때 충청 지역에서는 〈모심는 소리〉로 호남 지역과 함께 〈상사소리〉를 주로 부르면서, 강원도와 인접한 동북부내륙권에서는 〈아라리소리〉를, 영남과 인접한 동남부내륙권에서는 〈정자소리〉를, 경기와 인접한 중북부내륙권에서는 〈하나소리〉가 집중적으로 전승된다. 그러나 충청 지역의 〈모심는 소리〉는 인접 지역의 소리를 그대로 가져다 부르는 것이 아니라 충청 지역의 모심는 작업 환경과 지역민의 취향에 맞게 창조적으로 변형해 부른다. 또한 〈모심는 소리〉의 사설 역시 다른 지역에 비해 농사에 대한 자부심이나 긍지, 충효의 교훈적 이념을 주로 표현함으로써 충청 지역의 고유한 특질을 형성해내고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper investigated how features of Rice-seedlings planting song were related with the nature in Chungcheong District by establishing the cultural regions according to folk song tradition. I divided the cultural regions according to folk song tradition – especially focused on Rice-seedlings planting song in Chungcheong District. As the result of it, I could establish the 5 cultural regions. i.e. the north-east region(Arari-sori region), the south-east region(Jeongja-sori region), the middle north region(Hana-sori region), the middle south region(Sangsa-sori region), the west coast region(Banga-sori region).
I found that Rice-seedlings planting songs have been transmitted in the influence of the bordered district, for exemple, Sangsa-sori have been sung in the middle south region as the center of Chungcheong District bordered on Honam District. Moreover, I investigated that Arari-sori have been sung in the north-east region bordered on Gangwon District, Jeongja-sori in the north-east region bordered on Youngnam District, Hana-sori in the middle north region bordered on Geonggi District.
However, they are not as same as songs of the bordered district. They have been created and transmitted adjusting to their preference by the people of Cheongcheong District. And the words of Rice-seedlings planting song show the pride and self-conceit about farming, the instruction of loyalty and filial piety about our nation. These features are the inherent characteristics which have been formed by the people of Chungcheong District.
