Theodor Adorno의 교육 담론에 대한 실천적 해석 : 시민교육의 맥락에서 = A Practical Interpretation of Theodor Adorno's Educational Discourse: In the Context of Citizenship Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현대 민주사회에서 요구되는 ‘성숙한 시민교육’의 방향성을 모색하기 위해, Adorno의 교육 담론을 재해석하고 실천적 적용 가능성을 검토하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 설계는 질적 문헌 연구에 근거한다. Adorno의 원전 번역서와후속 연구물을 대상으로 현대 시민교육 맥락에서 재구성할 수 있는 다섯 개 범주와 그에 따른 실천 방안을 도출하였다.
그 결과 Adorno의 교육 담론을 과거 청산과 사회학적 사고, 비판적 성찰과 저항, 반권위주의와 자율성, 냉담함을녹이는 공감과 사랑, 예술을 통한 살아있는 경험으로 범주화하였고, 이로부터 과거 청산을 향한 역사교육의 개편, 에세이를 통한 성찰 교육, 주체 형성 및 민주적 참여 확장, 미적 경험을 통한 감수성 함양, 교과교육과 평생교육의긴밀한 연계라는 다섯 가지 실천 방향을 제시하였다. 이론적으로는 비판이론과 교육학 간의 접점을 확장했다는 점에서, 실천적으로는 학교 교육부터 평생교육·지역사회교육까지 연계의 토대를 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 향후 연구에서는 제시된 실천 방향의 정책적 실현 가능성을 타진하고, 다양한 교육 현장에서 나타날 수 있는 현실적 제약을 어떻게극복할지 구체적인 전략을 모색할 필요가 있다.

This study explores the reinterpretation and practical application of Adorno’s educational discourse in shaping education toward maturity in modern democratic societies. Grounded in a qualitative literature review, this research examines Adorno’s translated works and subsequent studies to identify key conceptual categories relevant to contemporary civic education, along with their practical implications. The findings structure Adorno’s educational thought into five themes: historical reckoning and sociological awareness, critical self-reflection and resistance, anti-authoritarianism and autonomy, Empathy and love as counterforces to coldness, and lived experience through aesthetic education. Based on these themes, five practical directions are proposed: reforming history education to foster historical consciousness, promoting reflective learning through essay writing, cultivating subjectivity and expanding democratic participation, enhancing aesthetic sensitivity through artistic experiences, and reinforcing the connection between curricular education and lifelong learning.
Theoretically, this study expands the intersection between critical theory and education.
Practically, it establishes a foundation for integrating formal education with lifelong and community-based learning. Future research should assess the policy feasibility of these proposals and develop concrete strategies to address structural constraints in diverse educational settings.
