동물매개중재가 학습부진 중학생들의 자아존중감과 사회성에 미치는 효과 = The Effects of Animal Assisted Intervention on the Self-esteem and Sociality of Underachieving Middle School Students

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 살아있는 동물을 매개로 하는 동물매개중재로 학습부진이라는 외부적인 환경요인으로 학교생활에 어려움을 겪고 있는 중학생들에게 동물과의 상호작용이 자아존중감과 사회성에 미치는 효과와 그 효과의 지속성을 검증하고자 하였다. 연구방법은 실험집단과 통제집단으로 구성된 유사실험설계를 실시하였으며, 실험집단을 대상으로 50분씩 총 12회를 진행하였다. 연구의 측정도구로 자아존중감척도, 사회성척도를 실험집단과 통제집단에게 동일하게 실시하였고, 자료분석은 SPSS 20.0을 사용하여 실험집단과 통제집단의 사전, 사후 및 추수검사 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 동물매개중재에 참여한 학습부진 중학생들은 자아존중감과 사회성이 향상되었고, 중재 종결이후에도 그 효과의 지속성이 검증되었다. 뿐만 아니라, 동물과의 상호작용 과정에서 자신과 타인의 감정을 이해하고 배려하는 모습도 관찰되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to verify the effect and continuity of Animal-Assisted Intervention on the self-esteem and sociality of middle school students struggling with school life. This study has been conducted by means of a quasi-experimental design consisting of an experimental group and a control group. Classes were held for 12 sessions, 50 minutes each for the experimental group. Pre-testing, post-testing, and further testing regarding the variables of self-esteem and sociality was conducted upon both the test group and the control group. Data was been analyzed using SPSS 20.0 to ensure the homogeneity of all subjects prior to the program. As a result, the middle school students with low levels of achievement who participated in animal mediated intervention improved in their self-esteem and sociality, and the continuity of the effect was verified even after the termination of the intervention. In addition, understanding and caring for the feelings of oneself and others was observed during the interaction activities with animals.
