동물매개중재가 학습부진 중학생들의 자아존중감과 사회성에 미치는 효과 = The Effects of Animal Assisted Intervention on the Self-esteem and Sociality of Underachieving Middle School Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to verify the effect and continuity of Animal-Assisted Intervention on the self-esteem and sociality of middle school students struggling with school life. This study has been conducted by means of a quasi-experimental design consisting of an experimental group and a control group. Classes were held for 12 sessions, 50 minutes each for the experimental group. Pre-testing, post-testing, and further testing regarding the variables of self-esteem and sociality was conducted upon both the test group and the control group. Data was been analyzed using SPSS 20.0 to ensure the homogeneity of all subjects prior to the program. As a result, the middle school students with low levels of achievement who participated in animal mediated intervention improved in their self-esteem and sociality, and the continuity of the effect was verified even after the termination of the intervention. In addition, understanding and caring for the feelings of oneself and others was observed during the interaction activities with animals.
