This article aims to show Korean linguistics and literature studies carried out at St. Petersburg University (Leningrad University) between the 1930s and the 1950s. St. Petersburg University was the first university in Russia to provide Korean language courses. In the 1930s, Korean linguistics and literature began to be studied and lectured in the form of academics. The department of Chinese and Japanese studies opened the Korean language courses. The department of Korean linguistics and literature was systematically run in 1947 after the German-Soviet War. It provided various subjects such as Present Day Korean grammar, Middle and Old Korean grammar, history of the Korean language, comparative grammar between Russian and Korean, Korean conversation and writing, practical writing, history of classic literature, history of modern literature.
