This study aims to classify the spatial characteristics of small town traditional markets, with a focus on their user base, and proposes concepts applicable to Metaverse virtual spaces to improve these markets’ spatial quality. Leveraging the planning potential of Metaverse virtual spaces holds significant implications, as it enables a broader reach and impact. The research methodology involves categorizing spaces based on the users and interactions among them and merchandise, resulting in five distinct spatial types. Through this research, we aim to establish a conceptual framework for the development of future-oriented small urban traditional markets, fostering differentiation and competitiveness against other retail establishments and permanent markets in larger urban settings.
