Jonah's mission from the perspective of missionary ecclesiology and its application today
This study was applied today by studying missionary ecclesiology and Jonah's mission in the book of Jonah. Missionary ecclesiology sees the nature of the church as missionary. As a result of the study, this is also reflected in Jonah's mission in the book of Jonah. This study was written according to the results of these studies.
The things studied through this study are as follows.
First, missionary ecclesiology is biblical. It was confirmed that the central idea of missionary ecclesiology coincides with what the Bible says. This indicates that the Bible supports the missionary ecclesiology, and that the missionary ecclesiology is a sound ecclesiology established on the Bible.
Second, missionary ecclesiology is in considerable agreement with Reformed theology. As a result of examining the writings of Gehardus Voss and John Calvin, two representative Reformed theologians, we found that the missionary ecclesiology coincides with Reformed theology to a large extent. This indicates that missionary ecclesiology is worth studying and utilizing in the Reformed camp.
Third, God is a missionary God. The nature of the triune God is mission. Heavenly Father sends His Son, Jesus, and sends the Holy Spirit in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, to fulfill the plan of salvation. The Trinity God wants the church, which is His body, to do missionary work, and He teaches His church and sends it to the field of missionary work.
Fourth, God's absolute sovereignty toward salvation is actively manifested through the church, which is His body. God is the one who does the work of missions with absolute sovereignty, but the work is never independent, and God wants his churches to be trained and used as missionary churches within his sovereignty. He is the one who does it.
Lastly, all direction of the church should be toward mission. When the church moves toward mission as its ultimate goal, it becomes in accord with God's heart toward mission. Mission is the nature of the church, not just one of its many programs.
