Physical findings were within normal limit except for the local findings of the left hip which revealed slight swelling, mild tenderness, slighit limitation of abduction and crepitation on motion.
CBC and urinalysis were within normal limit. X-ray of left hip revealed multiple patchy calcifications in inferomedial and superolateral areas.
On October 19, 1966 left hip arthrotomy was performed under spinal anesthesia. About 40 o~steochondromatous loose bodies of various size were removed along with partial excision of the thickened synovium studded with nodules. The microscopic examination showed the findings of the synovial osteochondromatosis. The postoperative course was uneventful.
The literatures were reviewed and the pathogenesis, pathogenesis, pathology, symptomatalogy and treatment were discussed.
