      고등교육 통계의 활용 만족도 제고를 위한 정보 수요 특성 분석 = An Analysis on the Characteristics of Information Demand for Enhancing the Satisfaction Level on Higher Education Statistics Usage

      The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of information demand for enhancing the user satisfaction level on higher education statistics and search for a plan to improve the system upon considering the characteristics of demand.
      Accordingly, Delphi research was conducted on the current higher education statistics information service with the participants from experts of universities,related organization and high schools. To analyze the characteristics of information demand, the type of statistics information utilized in important ways was examined according to usage groups, and the improvement requirements for enhancing the satisfaction level were researched in order to propose an improvement direction of the system.
      The study result is as follows.
      First, it was revealed that universities have the highest demand for the statistics &index information on the internal and external evaluation, the information on securing and developing professors and the information on recruiting students.
      Second, it was found that the information demand for choosing university and future career was most important for high schools, the students and the parents.
      Especially, it is necessary to expand the provision of detailed information on the selection result in regard to the information for choosing university.
      Third, in regards to the statistics or index utilized by the government and public institutions, it is necessary to provide them through the classification according to various standards such as study areas and ensuring the compatibility with international indexes is also needed.
      To enhance the satisfaction level of the users of information on the statistics for cultivating competent staff for the domestic higher education, it is necessary to establish the following policy implementation strategy.
      First, it is necessary to understand the information demand and intent of usage according to the user characteristics, and the demand research and evaluation need to be conducted on regular basis for enhancing the satisfaction level on acquiring and utilizing information as well as the result of usage.
      Second, in the implementation of public announcement of university information,it is necessary to improve it into user-friendly service by developing various indexes by obtaining sufficient raw data and presenting accurate interpretations and the scope of usage.
      Third, it is necessary to diversify the statistical information provided as well as enhance the user satisfaction level on the result of decision-making based on the information utilized.
      Accordingly, it is necessary to continuously develop the information required by users in their decision-making such as the unique education goal, management strategy and differentiation strategy of each university, and to minimize the situations such as randomly interpreting the information or misusing the information upon not accurately understanding the meaning. Accurate information and its appropriate usage need to be considered also for the purpose of safely implementing the autonomous competition system among universities through public announcement of information.
