한국 중소기업의 대중국 투자 특성 연구 = A Study on Characteristics of Korean SME’s Investment to China

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study researches on characteristics of Korean SME’s investment to China after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and China in 1992. Characteristics of Korean SME’s investment to China are classified by 4 periods. The first period(1992∼1998) of ‘the 1st growth’ was that SMEs of light industry played the lead role in investment to China. The second period(1999∼2001) of ‘adjustment’ was that industry restructuring was a key factor to decide an inducement to invest in China during Korea’s financial crisis. The third period(2002∼2008) of ‘the 2nd growth’ was that the heavy and chemical industry was dominated covering over two-thirds of SME’s investment to China. The fourth period(2009-2011) of ‘turning point’ was that SME’s investment to China has been stagnant in changing investment environment of China.
SME’s investment to China has both positive and negative factors. Korea-China FTA will be positive for providing a good investment environment for SMEs. However, it is expected that the negative factors will be more influential including competitive structure in industry, highly weight in manufacturing, difficulty in entering the domestic market of China, floundering in labor-intensive industry, etc.
