만 5세 유아의 또래 간 갈등 양상에 대한 연구 = Characteristics of Peer Conflicts Among 5-Year-Olds

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 만 5세 유아를 대상으로 또래 간 갈등의 쟁점 유형, 갈등과정에서 사용하는 전략, 갈등의 결과를 전반적으로 관찰하여 갈등의 양상과 성별에 따른 차이를 살펴보았다. 유아의 또래 간 갈등은 표면화된 대립적 갈등행동이 나타나기 전에 작은 에피소드가 있다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 이는 갈등이 단회적인 에피소드로 인한 결과라기보다는 갈등의 원인이 되는 작은 에피소드가 반복되면서 표면화됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 유아들은 갈등이 발생해서 종결될 때까지 하나의 전략을 사용하지 않고 적어도 3-5개의 전략을 사용하며, 사용하는 전략은 상호 밀접한 관련성을 보였다. 유아의 성별에 다른 또래 간 갈등의 양상은 남아들이 여아들보다 또래 간 의견 차이를 더 빈번히 일으키고, 신체적 공격 및 협박하기, 욕하기, 소리 지르기 등의 직접적인 언어적 공격을 많이 사용하는 모습을 보이는 반면, 여아들의 갈등은 온전히 포착하기 어려우며, 온화하면서도 단호한 갈등 양상을 많이 나타냄에 따라 갈등이 표면적으로 나타나지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this study, by observing the issue category of peer conflicts in 5-year-old children, the strategy which is utilized in conflict process, and results of peer conflicts, (국문초록 보고 첨가) we have investigated how the conflict modalities are distinguished in accordance with genders. The peer conflicts of children showed that the little episodes had happened before oppositional conflict behaviors which are externalized appeared. This means that the peer conflicts of children are externalized by repetition of little episodes, which are the cause of the conflicts, not by single episode. Furthermore, children tend to use 3-5 strategies at least from the beginning of the peer conflicts to the termination, which showed that the strategies children have used are closely connected. Regarding the peer conflict modalities in accordance with genders of children, boys tend to have more intense disagreement frequently than girls, showing direct verbal aggression such as physical attacks or threats, abusive languages, yelling and so on. On the contrary, the peer conflicts in girls are not captured easily and are not externalized due to gentle and stern conflict modalities.
