전시컨벤션센터의 활용증진방안에 관한 연구 = A Study on the ways for promoting the Utilization of Exhibition and Convention Center

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to suggest the way for promoting the utilization of COEX. For implementing this purpose, the study reviews the literature to extract variables and uses those variables for analyzing domestic and foreign cases: Goyang city in Korea and Singapore. Goyang city as a failure case and Singapore as a successful case. And apply the lessons from these case studies for promoting the utilization of COEX. The five suggestions of this study are as follows. Firstly, for becoming the best Northeast Asian exhibition and convention center, COEX should exchange expertise workers and diversify the cooperation through connecting the exhibition and convention centers of China and Japan. Secondly, COEX should reactivate a water taxi which operate in Han river park and extend Gangnam tourist bus route from Gangnam Station to Jamsil Sports Complex. Also, COEX should develop tour belts which are connected to China and Japan. Thirdly, COEX should establish MICE cluster by connecting KINTEX in Goyang, SETEC in Seoul, Daejon Convention Center, Kim DaeJung Convention Center in Gwangju, ICC in Jeju, EXCO in Daegu, Hwabaek Center in Gyeongju, BEXCO in Busan, and CECO in Changwon to cooperate which are in the vicinity of KTX stations. Fourth, the sites of Seoul medical center and Korea Appraisal Board neighboring COEX should be developed as the Asian Headquarter of United Nations in which Seoul can be a strategic location for international peace and the unification of Korean peninsula. On this site a ship dock is to be set up for creating tourist demand. Fifth, COEX should be organized as the core site for economic, social, art and cultural activity.
