자연의 아름다움에 대한 환경감수성 함양을 위한 환경교육교재 개발 연구 : 자연환경 영상 및 사진자료 활용을 중심으로 = Development of environmental education material for environmental sensitivity of nature's beauty : focus on using multimedia and picture materials

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 환경교육의 동향을 보면 지식과 기능 측면을 강조하는 교육에서 가치관과 태도의 변화의 측면을 강조하는 교육으로 전환되는 추세이다.
환경교육의 목적이 환경을 보호하고 환경문제를 해결하기 위한 책임 있는 환경행동을 하는 시민의 양성에 있으며 이를 위해 환경감수성 함양을 위한 야외·체험 학습프로그램의 개발이나 환경감수성을 측정하는 연구는 활발하게 이루어지고 있으나 환경감수성을 개발하는 교재의 개발은 미흡한 실정이다.
본 연구는 자연환경에 대한 아름다움을 인식하는 것이 환경감수성을 함양하는 하나의 방법이 될 것이라는 생각을 출발점으로 하여, 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 영상자료 활용을 통하여 환경감수성을 함양하는 교재의 개발에 그 목적을 두고 있다.
이론적 근거를 정립하기 위해 환경교육 관련서적과 학위논문, 환경교육학회지, 연구논문 등에서 환경교육의 성격, 목적, 목표, 환경교육에서의 환경감수성의 의의, 영상자료를 활용한 환경교육의 특성을 살펴보았으며 미학관련 서적, 연구논문 등을 통하여 자연환경의 아름다움의 의의와 인간의 미적 태도, 환경미학의 성격, 환경교육에서의 환경미학의 의의를 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 환경교육에서 자연환경의 아름다움을 활용한 환경감수성 함양 방안을 구체화하기 위한 요소를 추출하였다. 또한 그 요소들을 고려하여 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 영상자료를 활용한 환경교육 교재를 구성하여 경기도 안양시에 있는 남자 중학교 1학년 학생을 대상으로 3차시에 걸쳐 창의적 재량활동 시간에 적용해보고 개발된 교재의 타당성과 효율적 적용 방안을 탐색해 보았다.
본 연구에서 이론적 고찰을 통해 환경교육에서 자연환경의 아름다움을 주제로 환경감수성의 함양방안을 모색하여 적용가능성을 탐색함으로써 환경교육교재 내용의 확장을 기하였고, 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 환경감수성 함양을 구체화하기 위한 요소로 자연환경의 미학적 요소가 담긴 영상자료를 소재로 활용, 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 환경감수성의 함양, 통합성의 고려, 토론활동을 통한 자기 환경화의 지향 등의 요소를 추출하였다.
연구 주제와 관련한 교재를 개발하여 실제 수업에 적용한 결과 교재 구성 및 내용 면에서는 통합성의 원칙이 고려되었고 수업활동에서 효과가 크게 나타난 부분은 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 인식, 자연환경에 대한 긍정적인 태도의 형성, 자연환경에 대한 흥미와 호기심의 고취, 환경감수성의 함양, 지역 사회와 우리나라의 자연환경에 대한 애착심, 발표 및 토론활동을 통한 자기 환경화의 지향, 환경친화적인 의사결정 등이었다.
이러한 결과를 볼 때 본 연구에서 개발된 교재는 자연환경의 아름다움에 대한 환경감수성 함양을 구체화하기 위해 추구해야 할 요소들에 비교적 잘 접근되어 환경교육에서 적용 가능한 교재로 생각된다.

The current trend in the environmental education is marked with the transition from education with emphasis on knowledge and applicable skills to that with the emphasis on promoting positive changes in people's points of view and attitude toward the environment.
The objective of environmental education is to protect the environment and foster the growth of environmentally educated and responsible citizens to improve the environment. There are numerous ongoing developments of outdoor/field learning experience programs for building people's environmental sensitivity and plenty of research on methods of measuring it. However, insufficient amount of work has been put into developing instructional materials to promote environmental sensitivity.
The basis of this research is the idea that recognizing the beauty of the natural environment would help cultivate environmental sensitivity. Therefore, the objective of this research has been the development of instructional materials using multimedia and visual images of the beautiful nature to promote environmental sensitivity.
I have looked into various books related to environmental education, dissertations, articles in the journal of Environmental Education as well as other research papers to establish the theoretical ground on the characteristics, the objectives, the significance of environmental sensitivity, and the characteristics using multimedia materials in environmental education. I have also studied the significance of nature's beauty, human's aesthetic attitude, the characteristics of environmental aesthetics, and the significance of environmental aesthetics in environment education through the related books and research theses. From such works, I have extracted the elements needed to materialize the plan of using nature's beauty to cultivate environmental sensitivity. With these elements under consideration, I have organized instructional materials using multimedia data about nature's beauty, and have applied them to teaching some middle school 1st graders in An-yang-Si, Kyung-gi-do during their extracurricular activity period. While conducting this application three times, I have explored the validity and the effective use of them.
The results showed that the developed instructional materials had the greatest effects on the improved recognition of the nature's beauty, the formation of positive attitude toward the environment, the inspiration of interest and curiosity toward the environment, the cultivation of environmental sensitivity, the inspiration of devotion toward local communities as well as our country's environment, the development of one's own view of the environment through discussions, the tendency to make environmental-friendly decisions and more.
Judging from such results, the instructional materials developed for this research have approached the elements we have to pursue to materialize the cultivation of environmental sensitivity. Therefore, I think them suitable for practical uses in classes.
