식민지기 조선 잠사업의 관료적 재편

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 누에고치 거래방법에 초점을 맞추어 식민지기 조선 잠사업과 같은 시기 일본 잠사업을 비교한 것이다. 일본 잠사업에서는 다양한 거래방법의 형성에 거래주체들의 이해관계가 주로 작용하였고 정부의 개입은 제한되어 있던 반면, 조선 잠사업에서는 행정관료가 그것을 주도하였다. 이와 같은 관료적 재편은 나름의 합리성을 지닌 것이었지만 전 조선에 한 가지 거래방법만이 남게 되는 획일성, 경직성을 낳았다. 조선 잠사업에서 관료적 재편이 가능했던 배경은 후발성과 식민지성에 있는 것으로 보이며 따라서 식민지기 다른 산업에서도 동일한 현상이 광범하게 발견될 가능성이 높다고 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Comparing Korean silk industry with that of Japan can help understand the Korean economy in the colonial period. This paper focused on the evolution of cocoon trade in the two countries. In Japan, various ways such as cocoon markets and Tokuyaku Torihiki were adopted mainly due to the diverse interests of farmers, merchants, and filatures. In contrast, the colonial governments, or the bureaucrats had the initiative in Korea, and finally forced the same way of T`ungmaeje all over the peninsular. The bureaucratic reorganization suppressed diveristy but resulted uniformity and rigidity. Similar phenomena are likely to be found in other industries, as a special feature of the Korean economy.
