청소년의 행복감에 대한 생태체계적 분석 = Applying An Ecological Systems Theory to Investigating Youths’ Happiness

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사회정서역량이 강조되고 있는 미래교육 담론 속에서 한국 청소년의 행복감에 영향을 미치는 생태체계 요인들을 분석하고, 이를 증진하기 위한 정책적 시사점을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 한국청소년정책연구원의 ‘2022년 아동·청소년인권실태 조사’ 중·고등학생 자료를 바탕으로 청소년의 행복감에 영향을 미치는 요인을시간, 미시, 중시, 거시체계 차원에서 탐색하였다. 분석 결과, 시간체계 관련하여 고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년의 행복감은 중학생에 비해 낮게 나타나 학교급 전환에 따른사회정서역량 변화를 짐작할 수 있었다. 미시적 차원의 영향요인으로는 자아존중감, 정서요인, 부모의 존중과 폭력이 도출되었으며 중시적 차원에서는 학교생활만족도와학교폭력 피해경험이 청소년의 행복감과 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 거시적차원에서는 사회적 지지관계와 사회적 인권존중 정도가 청소년의 행복감에 유의미한영향력을 발휘하는 것으로 파악되었다. 전술한 실증결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 결론에서는 청소년의 행복감을 증진시키기 위한 교육적 시사점을 제언하였으며, 청소년의 건강한 성장환경 조성을 위한 제도적 개입의 필요성을 심도 있게 논의하였다.

In the context of education for future emphasizing socio-emotional skills, this study aims to analyze the association of socio-ecological factors with happiness among Korean youths and to provide policy implications. Using data from the ‘2022 Survey on the Human Rights of Children and Adolescents’ by the Korea Youth Policy Institute, we explored the factors affecting youths’ happiness at the chrono, micro, meso, and macro levels. Results showed that high school students are likely to be less happy than middle school students in terms of chrono-level, implying a change of socio-emotional skill during the school transition. At the micro-level, self-esteem, emotional factors, and parental respect and violence were identified as key factors while school life satisfaction and school violence victimization were closely related to youths’ happiness at the meso level. Finally, youths are likely to be happier in a society filled with more supportive relationship and more respect for human rights at the macro level. Based on the empirical findings, we provided educational suggestions for promoting youths’ happiness and further discussed why policy intervention matters for fostering a healthy environment for youths within an ecological systems approach.
