The convention industry has been grown and the importance has been highly increased. However, the manpower is not yet enough to meet the need of convention industry. In order to train to be the person required in convention industry and to select, hire, and manage employees at PCO, the competency-based human research management has been needed. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to define the competency of convention planners. At result of survey, it is defined that the important competencies are responsibility, problem-solving ability, literary communication, event operation ability, information analysis, time management ability, and budget management ability. Some were found out as new competencies; emergency management ability, partnership management ability, leadership, equipment management ability, design ability and so on.
