바이오 레더의 추상 표현을 응용한 패션 소재 및 디자인 개발 = Exploring Abstract Expression in Bio-Leather - Innovations in Fashion Material Development and Design -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

천연가죽은 원시부터 인류사를 함께한 소재로, 아직도 고급이라는 관념하에 선호되고 있다. 하지만 생산 과정에서의 비윤리적 문제가 환경과 생태계, 인류까지 위협한다는 사실이 알려짐에 따라 책임감 있는 대중들의 자세가 요구되고 있다. 이에 등장한 바이오 레더는 생물학적 원료 공정에 의해 형성된 가죽으로 생태계와의 공존을 고려하는 윤리성과 지속가능성에 관한 이슈로부터 주목받게 되었고, 혁신적 물질로 된 소재임에 차세대 섬유패션산업으로 예상되고 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 바이오 기반의 원료 탐구부터 디자인 전개에 이르는 동안 표출된 추상 표현의 특성을 분석하고, 바이오 레더와 접목하여 새로운 소재를 개발하고자 한다. 또한, 이를 활용하여 창의적 표현법이 적용된 패션디자인을 구현함으로써 디자인의 다양성과 독창성을 넓히고자 한다. 나아가 바이오 레더 패션의 상용화를 위한 후속연구의 발전적 토대를 도모하는 데에도 목적이 있다. 연구는 문헌과 사례의 기초지식 탐구를 위한 이론연구, 원료실험을 통해 파악한 추상 표현을 응용, 소재화하여 패션디자인으로 전개하는 작품 연구로 도출된다. 연구결과는 이와 같다. 첫째, 이론 및 작품 연구를 통한 패션디자인 구현으로 바이오 레더 패션의 필요와 방향성을 파악, 표현방법을 구축할 수 있었다. 둘째, 바이오 레더의 현황을 통해 혁신적 생물원료와 기술수용으로 소재 개발 및 맞춤형 디자인으로의 발전성을 이해하고 이를 토대로 새로운 패션 시장이 형성되어감을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 생물원료의 가변적 요인을 표현방법으로 전환함은 새로운 소재 및 디자인 개발 방법으로서 심미적 효과를 부여할 수 있었다. 넷째, 표현성은 개방적 시도로부터 창의적 결과를 표출해내는 동력이자 폭넓은 디자인 발상과 전개를 위한 중요 요소로 작용하였고 이로써 바이오 레더를 활용한 패션디자인을 구현할 수 있었다. 바이오 기반 원료의 성질과 본연의 심미성을 담고자 함을 헤아려 추상 표현의 기법을 수용함으로써 새롭고 독창적인 디자인으로 이끌 수 있었다. 본 연구는 윤리성 기저에 생물학의 개념과 예술의 융합으로 시도된 초석 연구로서 폭넓은 원료 활용과 창조성을 수용, 개선하여 훗날 상용화된 발전적 결과로 기대하는 바이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Natural-leather is a high-quality material which has been persistent with human-history and is still preferred. However, responsible public attitudes are required as unethical problems in the production process are known to threaten the environment, ecosystem. Bio-leather, which appeared under such a context above, is expected to lead a next-generation fashion industry because as an innovative material it has drawn attention with issues about ethics and sustainability. In this study, the characteristics of abstract-expressions identified in the bio-based raw-material exploration and design development are analyzed to develop materials in combination with bio-leather. It also aims to lay a foundation for the development of bio-leather fashion by expanding diversity and originality via designs applied with creative expression. Research was conducted for the theories to explore basic knowledge and for the work that applied abstract-expressions and developed them into fashion designs. The results are as follows. First, by developing fashion-design through research, it was possible to understand the needs and directions of bio-leather fashion and build its expression methods. Second, through the exploration of the current status of bio-leather, we could understand the development of design that embraced bio-materials and technologies, and based on this, we could see that a new fashion market would be formed. Third, converting the variability of bio-materials to expression methods could have an aesthetic effect as a new design development method. Fourth, expressiveness is the driving force for deriving creative results from open attempts and acts as an element for design ideas and development, enabling fashion design using bio-leather. The study aimed to contain the properties and aesthetics of bio-based raw-materials and it was possible to derive a new and original design by accepting abstract-expression techniques. This research is a cornerstone study that integrated biological concepts and art based on ethics, and it is expected to acquire commercialized developmental results by utilizing a wide range of raw-materials and accepting creativity in the future.
