A fine 3D finite-element analysis model of a human ankle and foot has been developed by converting CT scan images to 3D CAD models in order to analyze the distribution of plantar pressure while walking. The 3D ankle and foot FE model includes all muscles, bones, and skins. To represent walking motion, the angle between a vertical line which passes through a shin and a earth surface was changed from 78, 82, 86, 92, 96, and 100 degrees. On the basis of this model and the pressure distribution results, shoes for diabetes patients, which can make the plantar pressure distribution uniform, may be designed through finite-element contact analysis.
