The number of dizziness patients, who describe their lack of balance as ‘Vertigo,’ is expected to increase by 5.7% compared to 2018 to 320,000 in 2022. One of the most common causes of vertigo is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). The cause of BPPV is sensory abnormalities in the vestibular system depending on the location of the
otolith. In normal people, otoliths exist only within the otolith organ, but in patients with BPPV, otoliths protrude outside the otolith organ and stimulate the semicircular canal with head movement. An accompanying symptom of BPPV is reflex nystagmus, which causes brief, repetitive episodes of dizziness. The VNG type inspection device, one of the nystagmus inspection methods, can only be started if an expert directly adjusts the scope of the inspection device. Additionally, BPPV diagnosis relies on the clinical experience of experts. In this study, representative pupil detection algorithms used in BPPV imaging diagnosis were compared to solve this problem.
