A new orange-red colored standard rose (Rosa hybrida Hort.) cultivar Scarla was developed at the Jeollanamdo Agricultural Research and Extention Services (JARES) after bud selection and line selection for three times from 1999, and its characteristics were examined two times from 2001 to 2003. Scarla was selected from the bud mutation of Tiamo. It has a orange-red group color (RHS No. 30B), and large flower with good harmony between ray florlet and flower center. The yield was 186 stems/m2 on average in two years. The vase life was 7 days. This cultivar registered as a commercial cultivar in 2004. It will be able to be planted in all greenhouse region in Korea and will be released to farmers in 2005.
