The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between exercise, Success Quotient Intelligence (SQI), and Emotional Intelligence in 90 female middle school students. Subjects were divided into three groups: student athletes, recreational athletes, and those with no exercise experience. Exercise history was assessed according to starting age, intensity, and exercise type. Window SPSS 13.0 Version was used to analyze the relationship between all three variables via the Pearson Correlation, t-test, and ANOVA with Duncan for post hoc. Recreational sports activity, sports activity beginning at the ages of 7~9, and solo sports had a positive effect on SQI and emotional intelligence. This study provides some important specifics about exercise intensity, when to start exercise, and what type of exercises to do in order to increase SQI and emotional intelligence. Future studies should also investigate the influence of a wider variety of specific sports on SQI and emotional intelligence. Futhermore future studies should include the effects of sports activities beginning before the age of seven.
