The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the attentional styles and anxiety in soccer athletes of university. University soccer athletes(N=73) completed the test of the soccer attentional styles (TSAS), sport competition anxiety test(SCAT) and general anxiety test(GAT). The data was analyzed by statistical elements such as mean, standard deviation, t value correlation and factor analysis.
Results revealed that soccer defense athletes had greater effect than soccer offense athletes, and significant correlations existed between TSAS subscale and anxiety.
1) Significant positive correlations existed between TSAS subscale (OET:r=0.329, RED:r=0.375) and SCAT, whereas between TSAS subscale (NIT:r=-0.351) and GAT was negative correlation in soccer offense athletes.
2) Significant positive correlations existed between TSAS subscale (BET:r=0.547, NET:r=0.427) and SCAT, and between TSAS subscale (BET:r=0.484, NET:r=0.441, OIT:r=0.405, OET:r=0.448, RED:r=0.476) and GAT in soccer defense athletes.
3) Significant positive correlations existed between TSAS subscale (BET:r=0.354, OET:r=0.308) and SCAT, and between TSAS subscale (OET:r=0.358, RED:r=0.372) and GAT in soccer athletes.
4) The results of factor analysis of TSAS sybscale indicated that there were two factors(factor 1: OIT, OET, NIT, RED. factor 2: BET, BIT, NET). Factor 1 and 2 were effected by SCAT, but not by GAT.
