For the past two years(2011~2012), studies in the area of “Goryeo history” demonstrated both interest and disinterest in various facets of the Goryeo people"s lives. Issues like land ownership or military service were examined, but there were not enough studies to contribute to the overall reconstruction of the Goryeo people"s economic lives. There were very few studies regarding the penal law and medical environment of the Goryeo period, and studies of rituals and protocols were primarily concentrated upon the Goryeo dynasty"s early half. Studies of human network and human relationships tended to resort to comparative studies between Korea, China and Japan instead of conducting examination of domestic changes that took place over time. Local administration history only examined the early and middle periods of Goryeo. In the area of political history, the king"s leadership and other ranking systems were examined, and foreign diplomacy and warfare proved to be still a hot issue for the scholars. Yet there should have been more studies of institutional history, while historical studies of education and national tests should concentrate their focus more upon the latter half period of Goryeo. The area of historical studies of the Goryeo people"s mind and thinking witnessed so many studies presented within a single category. There were much more Buddhist studies done than Confucian studies. And the dynasty"s latter half period still has many topics to be explored in the future.
