그리스도의 한 인격에 구현된 신성과 인성의 관계 : 조나단 에드워즈의 기독론을 중심으로 = The Relation Between Divinity and Humanity Embodied in One Person of Christ : Focusing on Jonathan Edwards’ Christology

This study discusses the relation between divinity and humanity embodied in one person of Christ focusing on Jonathan Edwards’s Christology.
The incarnation God has become a man is a very special event. It can no longer be fully explained from an ontological point of view. That is the reason why we need to have a relational approach on the incarnation.
First, Edwards presents the ontological distinction between divinity and humanity in one person of Christ. Christ’ divinity was not changed and Christ’ humanity was not compromised in the incarnation. It means Christ is both perfect God and perfect man. The ontological distinction guards against Docetism and Adoptionism that exclude the other nature. Second, Edwards presents the relational union between divinity and humanity in one person of Christ. The hypostatic union supports the relational union without fusion and destruction of divinity and humanity. It means Christ is God-man. The relational union guards against Nestorianism that separates humanity from divinity. Third, Edwards presents the asymmetrical dependency between divinity and humanity in one person of Christ. Christ’ divinity has absolute freedom. But Christ’ humanity being impersonal has relative freedom. The asymmetrical dependency guards against Eutychianism that compounds divinity and humanity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 조나단 에드워즈의 기독론을 중심으로 그리스도의 한 인격에 구현된 신성과 인성의 관계를 논증한다. 성육신은 하나님이 사람이 된 사건이며, 존재의 범주에서 충분히 해명할 수 없는 특별한 사건이다. 에드워즈의 기독론은 존재와 관계의 범주를 구별하여, 신성과 인성의 관계를 종합적으로 제시한다. 첫째, 그리스도의 한 인격에 구현된 신성과 인성의 존재론적 구별이다. 성육신 사건에서 그리스도의 신성은 불변하며, 그리스도의 인성은 온전히 보존된다. 즉, 그리스도는 완전한 하나님이며 동시에 완전한 사람이다. 이것은 신성과 인성의 일치를 주장하면서 한쪽을 배제하는 가현설이나 양자론을 대항한다. 둘째, 그리스도의 한 인격에 구현된 신성과 인성의 관계론적 연합이다. 위격적 연합은 신성과 인성의 존재론적 구별을 훼손하지 않는 방식의 관계론적 연합을 가능하게 한다. 즉, 그리스도는 신인(God-man) 이다. 이것은 신성과 인성을 분리하는 네스토리우스주의를 대항한다. 셋째, 그리스도의 한 인격에 구현된 신성과 인성의 비대칭적 의존성이다. 신성은하나님의 방식으로 절대적 자유를 가지며, 비위격인 인성은 피조물의 방식으로 상대적 자유를 가진다. 이것은 신성과 인성의 존재론적 구별과 관계론적 연합을 흐릿하게 하여 물리적으로 융합시키는 유티케스주의를 대항한다.
