Visible minority 관점을 적용한 다문화 청소년의 자살경향성에 관한 연구 : 외국인 어머니를 둔 청소년을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 visible minority 관점을 중심으로 다문화 청소년의 자살 경향성(우울감, 자살생각, 자살계획, 자살시도, 치명적 자살시도)을 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 다문화 청소년을 외모의 가시성에 따라 가시적 소수자와 비가시적 소수자로 구분하고 한국단일가정에서 출생한 비다문화 청소년과 비교 검증하였다. 이를 위해 제13차 청소년건강행태온라인조사 자료를 활용하였으며 연구대상은 다문화 청소년 639명, 비다문화 청소년 57,595명이다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구대상자의 비율은 가시적 소수자와 비가시적 소수자가 각각 0.36%, 0.74%에 불과하였으나, 다문화 청소년일수록 자살계획, 자살시도, 치명적 자살시도가 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가시적 소수자는 비다문화 청소년에 비해 자살시도의 위험 승산비가 2.46배 더 높고, 치명적 자살시도 위험 승산비는 14.39배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자살생각의 세 집단(가시적 소수자 집단, 비가시적 소수자 집단, 비다문화 청소년 집단) 간 차이는 유의하지 않았으나, 자살계획은 비다문화 청소년에 비해 비가시적 소수자 집단에서만 유의미하게 높은 것으로 검증되었다. 이는 자살경향성에 대한 취약성의 근간이 가시적 소수자 여부뿐만 아니라 비가시적 소수자일지라도 사회적으로 저평가되어 있는 국가에도 투영되어 있음을 보여주는 결과이다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 기반으로 다문화 청소년의 자살경향성 완화를 위한 정책적, 실천적 제언을 실시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to identify suicidality which includes depression, suicidal ideation, suicide plans, suicide attempts and lethal suicide attempts of multicultural adolescents based on the visible minority perspective. For this study, according to their visibility, multicultural adolescents were classified into “visible minority” (hereafter VM) and “invisible minority” (hereafter IM), and compared with korean monocultural adolescents. Data was obtained from 13th the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS) and the subjects consisted of 639 multicultural adolescents and 57,595 monocultural adolescents. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, VM and IM accounted for each of 0.36%, 0.74%. but both had greater risk of overall suicidality other than suicidal ideation. Second, VM had 2.46 times higher risk odds for suicide attempts and 14.39 times higher risk for lethal suicide attempts than monocultural adolescents. Third, difference between the three groups (VM, IM, and monocultural adolescents) of suicidal ideation was not significant, but the suicide plan was found to be significantly higher in IM group than monocultural adolescents. Based on these results, political and clinical implications to reduce suicidality of multicultural adolescents were discussed.
