그림책의 개념적 논의를 통한 문학교육 도구성 고찰―사고 성숙과 심리 위안 도모를 중심으로― = Examining the instrumentality of literature education through conceptual discussion of picture books: Focusing on promoting thinking maturity and psychological comfort

국문 초록 (Abstract)

‘언어’와 ‘사고의 형성’은 긴밀한 관계를 지닌다. 또 문자의 최고(예술) 단계인 문학은 ‘심미적 인간의 형성’과 ‘삶의 통찰’을 선사할 수 있다. 한편, 긴 줄글 형태의 전통적 문학교육 자료가 이 시대의 독자에게 곤란함을 주고 있어, 그 보완 자료로서 ‘그림책’을 제시하였다. 그리고 그림책과 관련하여 ‘글과 그림 사이의 스펙트럼’, ‘명칭의 함의’, ‘역사의 시작과 중심’, ‘대상 독자’, ‘지칭의 논란’ 등을 짚으며 개념적 접근을 이루었다. 이를 통해 ‘그림책’의 개념적 실제를 이해하고 결과적으로 ‘동화’와의 미묘한 관계도 조감하였다. 더 나아가, 본 논의의 적용 대상이 아동뿐 아니라 모든 연령대를 포함하는 바, ‘동화’보다는 ‘그림책’이라는 지칭을 선택하였음도 짚었다. 이러한 논의를 근간으로 하여, ‘문학’이 치유와 위로, 울림 등의 작용을 하는데 ‘그림책’의 매체적 특성인 ‘다성성’과 ‘수월성’이 시너지로 작용하여 독자의 사고 성숙과 심리 위안을 도모하고 있음을 짚었다. 그림책의 이러한 효능은 본고의 설문에서도 드러났듯이 학생들에게 실질적으로 작용하며 또한 그 도구적 확장성은 무궁무진하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

‘Language’ and ‘formation of thought’ have a close relationship. Additionally, literature, which is the highest (art) stage of writing, can provide ‘the formation of an aesthetic human being’ and ‘insight into life.’ Meanwhile, traditional literature education materials in the form of long lines are causing difficulties for readers of this era, so ‘picture books’ were presented as supplementary materials. And in relation to picture books, a conceptual approach was achieved by pointing out the ‘spectrum between text and pictures’, ‘implication of names’, ‘beginning and center of history’, ‘target readers’, and ‘controversy over designations’. Through this, we were able to understand the conceptual reality of ‘picture books’ and consequently also get a bird’s eye view of their subtle relationship with ‘fairy tales’. Furthermore, it was pointed out that the subject of this discussion includes not only children but all age groups, and the term ‘picture books’ was chosen rather than ‘fairy tales’. Based on these discussions, it was pointed out that ‘literature’ has the functions of healing, comforting, and resonating, and the ‘polyphony’ and ‘ease of use’, which are the media characteristics of 'picture books', work synergistically to promote the maturity of readers’ thinking and psychological comfort. As revealed in the survey of this paper, this efficacy of picture books actually works on students, and its instrumental expandability is infinite.
