Early, design for reinforced concrete members were based on strength characteristics. But deformation characteristics begin to arouse interest by acceptance of the ultimate strength design method by the late 1950s.
So, in this paper an attempt is made to find crack width and spacing of reinforced concrete members in pure torsion. Because the diagonal concret struts subject to tensile in the normal direction to the compression so that bond model of the biaxial stress in tension-compression are used to analyze crack characteristics.
As a results, a new theory is presented which pridicts very well the crack width and the crack spacing of 14 test beams.
