濟州島의 초시류 昆蟲 (其 一) = COLEOPTERA OF QUELPART ISLAND(CHEJU-DO) (PART I)

This paper is the first section of the coleopterans among the insects which were collected at Quelpart Island in late spring, May 5­12, 1974.
T. Tatum is the first person to treat of the insects from Quelpart Island, it was 1847 much more one century ago. After that, the insect fauna of the Island was investigated by the following persons: S. Ichikawa(1906), W. L. distant(1911), T. Esaki(1921, 1930), H. Okamoto(1924), T. Mori(1924), J. M. Seok (1937, 1941, 1946, 1947), P. S. Cho(1956, 1963), C. W. Kim(1957), S. H. Park(1964), S. Miyamoto & C. E. Lee(1966), C. E. Lee(1967), W. H. Paik(1969, 1971), making general list of whole insects or partial treatments on their own special groups.
As to coleopterans, it was chiefly reported by Okamoto and Cho along with other many insects.
In the present report, 59 species under 50 genera and 21 families are treated, among them 7 families, 30 genera(under 14 families) and 42 species(under 35 genera and 17 families) are newly added to the insect list of Quelpart Island, moreover 4 families, 16 genera (under 11 families) and 26 species (under 23 genera and 14 families) are new records to the Korean fauna of insects.
All the specimens treated in this paper are preserved in the collection of the Dept. of Biology, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Kyungpook National University.
