체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로(New-tro) 패션 디자인 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

고도화된 문명사회에 살아가는 1020세대는 새로움을 추구한다. 다양성이 특징이 된 현대사회에서 더 이상 새로운 것은 찾기 어려워졌다. 이 역설적인 상황이 새로운 트렌드인 뉴트로가 떠오르는 배경일 것이다. 뉴트로란 새로움(New)과 복고(Retro)를 합친 신조어로, 완벽하고 매끈한 것 보다 옛 것의 불완전함이 새로운 매력 포인트가 되고 있다. 더 이상 옛 것인지, 새 것인지가 중요한 것이 아니라 독특함과 개성을 추구할 수 있는가가 중요해졌다. 그런 의미에서 뉴트로가 1020세대에게 주는 느낌은 신선한 충격이었다. 특히 패션에서 뉴트로 경향은 20세기의 다양한 아이템이 새롭게 등장하고, 단지 예전의 디자인을 재현하는 것이 아닌 현대적 감각의 개성과 아날로그적 감성을 결합하여 기존의 레트로와 차별화를 추구하는 디자인으로 나타났다.
사례분석과 트렌드 조사를 통하여 뉴트로 경향이 보이는 애니멀 패턴, 플라워 패턴, 체크 패턴 등 여러 패턴들 중에서 트레디셔널 체크 패턴이 뉴트로 경향을 잘 보여주고 있다고 판단하였다. 그러므로 본 연구의 목적은 다양한 체크 패턴과 이질적 소재의 믹스 앤 매치로 창의적이고 새로운 뉴트로 트렌드의 여성복 패션 디자인을 개발 하는 데 있다. 더 나아가 뉴트로 트렌드가 패션에 어떠한 방식으로 접목되었는지 알아보고, 체크 패턴과 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 응용하여 새롭고 감각적인 패션디자인을 개발하는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.
본 연구의 방법은 뉴트로 트렌드의 기반이 되는 레트로, 뉴트로와 관련된 문헌, 선행 연구, 인터넷 자료를 참고, 분석하여 연구하였다. 사례 분석은 뉴트로 패션 경향이 본격적으로 컬렉션에 나타나기 시작한 2018에서 2019 S/S, F/W, 2020 S/S 시즌으로 범위를 한정하였다. 컬렉션과 패션 트렌드를 조사하기 위해 각 시기에 발표된 세계 4대 패션쇼의 컬렉션을 참고하고 이외에도 보그, 삼성디자인넷, 퍼스트뷰코리아 등과 같은 인터넷 사이트 자료 등을 적극 활용하여 사례 분석하였다. 그 결과 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 클래식, 로맨틱, 스트리트로 분류하여 각기 다른 6벌의 의상 작품을 제작하였다.
본 연구는 다음과 같은 순서로 진행 되었다.
I 장에서 연구 목적 및 의의, 연구 내용과 방법에 대해 논하였다.
II 장에서 뉴트로와 레트로의 차이점을 알아보고, 뉴트로의 개념, 발생배경을 고찰하였고, 체크 패턴의 개념, 발생배경, 종류에 대하여 정리하였다.
III 장에서 컬렉션 시즌별로 뉴트로 패션의 트렌드와 사례를 분석하였고, 이를 바탕으로 체크 패턴을 연계하여 뉴트로 패션에 표현된 3가지 특징을 도출하였다.
IV 장에서 뉴트로 패션에 표현된 특징을 바탕으로 독창적이고 감각적인 작품 6점을 제시하고자 하였다. 작품의 전체적인 구성은 클래식 2점, 로맨틱 작품 2점, 스트리트 작품 2점으로 나누어 제작하였다.
Ⅴ장에서는 위에서 분석한 뉴트로 패션의 특징에 다양한 체크 패턴이 어떻게 표현되었는지 사례 분석하여 정리하고 이를 응용한 뉴트로 패션디자인 연구 및 개발의 방향을 제시하였다.
위와 같은 과정에서 도출한 뉴트로 패션의 특징은 클래식, 로맨틱, 스트리트 이다. 이 세 가지 특징이 표현된 체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로 패션례분석
결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로 패션에서 클래식은 고전적 요소를 가지고 있는 스타일로, 단순하고 절제된 형태의 H실루엣이나 구조적인 테일러링의 특성은 그대로 지속되었다. 하지만 다양한 소재와 컬러, 테일러링 변화에 의하여 새로운 변화를 준 뉴트로 클래식 디자인을 보여줬다.
둘째, 체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로 패션에서 로맨틱은 로맨티시즘을 가진 요소를 말한다. 자유분방한 표현을 주장한 낭만주의 시대의 화려하고 장식적인 복식과 예술의 전반적인 분야에서 영감을 받아 새롭게 재해석 한 여성적이고 로맨틱한 디테일을 사용한 뉴트로 로맨틱 디자인을 보여줬다.
셋째, 체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로 패션에서 스트리트는 거리문화의 변용으로 생성된 패션으로 시작하였다. 현재에는 과거의 안티적 성향이 아닌, 고스, 펑크, 글램 등 과거의 다양한 테마와 현대의 애슬레저, 스포티즘의 조합으로 새로운 개인의 스타일과 창의적인 개성을 보여주고, 실용적인 디테일과 과감한 실루엣이 혼합된 다양한 뉴트로 스트리트 디자인을 보여줬다.
이와 같이 체크 패턴을 응용한 뉴트로 패션디자인의 특징을 응용하여 클래식 2점, 로맨틱 2점, 스트리트 2점으로 구성한 6점의 작품을 제작하였다.
본 연구를 통해 새롭게 떠오른 트렌드인 뉴트로 현상과 체크 패턴에 대해 분석하여 뉴트로 패션의 특징을 알아보고 이 특징을 부각시켜 감각적이고 독창적인 작품을 제작할 수 있었다.
기존의 빠르게 사라지는 패션 트렌드와 다르게 과거와 현재를 이어주는 감성을 자극하였다. 또한 새로운 트렌드가 옛것에서도 비롯될 수 있음을 주목하고, 뉴트로 패션에 대한 다양한 후속연구가 지속적으로 이루어지길 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Teenagers and twenties (hereinafter referred to as “1020 generations”) who live in the advanced civilized society look for something new. It is difficult to find no longer anything new in modern society, which is characterized by diversity. This paradoxical situation may be the background where a new trend, New-tro emerges. What is the New-tro? It is a neologism combined "New" with "Retro". The imperfection of the old things gets to be new charming point rather than things perfect and smooth. It is important not whether it is new or old but whether it is possible to pursue uniqueness and individuality. In that sense, the feeling that the New-tro gives to 1020 generations was a fresh shock. Particularly in fashion, the trend of New-tro has made various items of the 20th Century appear. It isn't just to reproduce the previous designs. It newly appears as a design that seeks to differentiate itself from the existing Retro by combining the individuality of modern senses and analog emotion.
Among various patterns such as animal pattern, flower pattern and check pattern etc.,I think that the traditional check pattern reflects well the New-tro trend through case analysis and trend investigation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop women's fashion design based on the new and creative New-tro trend by mix and match of various check patterns and disparate materials. Furthermore, there is a significance of this study where I will find out the way of engrafting the New-tro trend into fashion, and develop new and sensuous fashion design by applying the characteristics of check pattern and the New-tro fashion.
As the method of this study, I referred to, analyzed and researched the Retro, which is basis of the New-tro trend, and literatures, advanced researches and internet data related to the New-tro. The scope of the case analysis is limited to 2019 S/S, F/W, 2020 S/S seasons from 2018 when the New-tro fashion trend begins to appear in a collection in earnest. I referred to 4 major fashion shows’ collections which were released at each time in order to investigate collections and fashion trends. In addition to it, I analyzed cases by actively utilizing internet data etc. such as Vogue, Samsung Design Net and First View Korea. As a result, I classified the characteristics of New-tro fashion trend in to Classical, Romantic, and Street and made six pairs of clothes works where each of them is different.
This study was conducted as follows:
In the Chapter I, it contains the purpose and significance of the study and content sand method of the study.
In the Chapter II, I looked into the difference between New-tro and Retro, concept of New-tro, the background of occurrence and straightened up the concept of check pattern, the background of occurrence and types of check patterns.
In the Chapter III, I analyzed the New-tro fashion trend and cases by collection season and I drew out 3 characteristics expressed in the New-tro fashion connected to the check pattern based on the aforementioned.
In the Chapter IV, I intended to suggest 6 pairs of works which are original and sensual based on the characteristics expressed in the New-tro fashion. The works are composed of 2 pairs in Classical, 2 pairs in Romantic and 2 pairs in Street on the whole.
In the conclusion of the Chapter V, I straightened up the characteristics of the New-tro fashion analyzed as above and how they were expressed in case of adding various check patterns to these characteristics. I suggested the direction of research and development of the design applied them.
The characteristics of the New-tro fashion drawn from the above process are 3 types of Classical, Romantic, and Street. The result of the case analysis on the New-tro fashion applied check patterns where such characteristics are expressed is as follows:
First, in the New-tro fashion that was applied check patterns, the Classical is a style having classical factors. The Classical style retains the characteristics, which are H silhouette’s simple and restrained form or structural tailoring, as they are, but it shows the New-tro Classical design that has been changed by various materials, colors, and tailoring changes.
Second, in the New-tro fashion that was applied check patterns, the Romantic refers to elements that are inclined to romanticism. The Romantic style is inspired from the colorful and decorative costumes of the Romantic period when free wheeling expressions were advocated and from the overall art fields and by new lyre interpreting them, shows a romantic design with feminine and emotional romantic details.
Third, in the New-tro fashion that was applied check patterns, the Street begins as a fashion created by a transformation of street culture. As a combination the past various themes such as Goth look, Punk and Glam not the meaning of negativity in the past, and the modern athleisure look and sportism, it shows newly differentiate individual style and creative individuality and shows various New-tro Street design where practical details and bold silhouettes are mixed.
As above, six pieces of works composed of two pieces of Classical, two pieces of Romantic and two pieces of Street were made by applying the characteristics of the New-tro fashion design based on characteristics of check patterns
Through this study, I could analyze the New-tro phenomenon, which is a newly emerging trend and the check patterns look into the characteristics of the New-tro fashion and make sensuous and original works by highlighting such characteristics.
Unlike the existing fashion trend which disappears fast, it stimulates the emotions connecting the past and the present. Furthermore, I pay attention to the fact that the new trend may originate from the old and expect various follow-up studies on the New-tro fashion to be continued.
