Romitelli came to Paris in 1991 to study Spectral music at IRCAM. While studying Spectral, he thought the process of dealing with sound material was all closely akin, so he had combination trial with Rock music genre for progress. In the process, he found its way out of his habituation, which acquired by studying contemporary music. For sake of his work, he would be inspired by Henry Michaux's hallucination works, Francis Bacon's 《Three Studies for a Self-Portrait》, and Gianluca Lerici's work, which led him to work at 《Professor Bad Trip》trilogy.
This study is aimed at analyzing 《Professor Bad Trip : Lesson I》(1998), one of Trilogy's works. Consequently it has a structure largely divided into three sections. This reflects the changing on process interconnected with the structural features of each of the three painting in Francis Bacon's 《Three Studies for a Self-Portrait》. Getting freely to express beyond representation form through repeated rhythm and harmony, active involvement of all instruments and sounds with the idea of Henri Michaux’s hallucinations. It is likely to evoking consequences in sucking into Romitelli's inner world - dreamlike, psychedelic colors, repetitive patterns and distorted images - that can also seen in Gianluca Lerici's works, and the sound of the electric guitar that properly utilized the characteristics of the typical Psychedelic Rock genre can be seen naturally permeated with his work beyond a parody of rock genre.
