Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.(HHI) developed its own Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system having higher efficiency and economic advantages to meet the environmental requirements of marine industry. This De-NOx system uses urea as a reductant and is equipped with a newly developed honeycomb type Titania-pillared interlayer clays (Ti-PILC) catalyst. The Ti-PILC catalyst was also developed by HHI and has a unique physical properties such as high surface area and strong mechanical strength. A proto-type model was installed on the HiMSEN engine, HHI's home grown medium-speed diesel engine. At this paper, the design and operation condition of SCR system and the results of performance test were introduced. The performance test showed that more than 90% of NOx was removed with high reliability at different engine loads.
