청자-화자간 역동과 일본어 대명사의 문법화 = Speaker-Hearer Dynamics and Grammaticalization of Japanese Pronominals

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal. 19(1). 61-78. It was one of the remarkable achievements in recent studies on grammaticalization that some cognitive forces or cognitive universals have been found in the development of human languages. The interface between pragmatics and grammaticalization has thereby been made identified, i. e. the dynamic relation of speaker and hearer could be at work in grammaticalization processes. This paper examines pronominals in Japanese on behalf of an interactive approach. In the history of the Japanese language, we observe that the pronominal forms are very often devaluated and eroded or replaced by the new forms. The general tendency of human languages that highly-valued expressions are devaluated over time seems to have played an important role in these developments. The indirectness and the politeness principles seems to be at work in this process, which belongs to the speaker-hearer dynamics of human speech.
