가톨릭 협동조합에 관한 윤리신학적 고찰

The study began with the concern about unethical of Neo-liberalism which dominates the present time and the role of the church in accordance with it. In other words, observing various problems emerged in modern society comes from the unethical of Neo-liberalism, Our study is based on the ethical system of economic system-that is to say, right direction the church presented-, and try to study the specific model of an economic activity within a moral order.
Thus on the basis of the perspectives and teachings of the Catholic social doctrine, we examine the Catholic economic ethics and consider a propriety of that the organization of cooperatives is moral theologically appropriate to the social doctrine by illuminating and analyzing the economic system of the modern society. More specifically, On the basis of the fundamental teaching of Catholic social doctrine, it is a unethical diagnosis of the Neo-liberalism economic structure by reflection on the Neo-liberalism economic system which dominates modern society, and we propose the concept of cooperative organization of the social economy with alternative of immoral modern society. This aims at having a practical proposal regarding the introduction of the economic model of the Catholic cooperative which specifically realize the fundamental principles of humanism;evangelism and ethic of cooperative. This study is composed of 3 sections, and the approximate content of each section is as follows.
First of all, In Chapter 1, we eventually explore the immorality of Neo-liberalism by looking at the concept of Neo-liberalism, issues, abuses that dominate the economy of modern societies and in specific areas of human life. Namely, we try to understand the irony of Neo-liberalism that emphasizes not the true meaning of human freedom but only the extreme freedom of the market without restriction and moral norms. As a representative example of the abuses, there are reckless competition and emphasis of efficiency, deepening social polarization, losing the value of labor, excessive culture of consumption, the financial capital of unethical business ethics and morality loss. Presented by these examples, we would like to emboss the unethical of Neo-liberalism in this section. In other words, in Neo-liberalism, the trend of the loss of human values and maximize the value of the capital and market lead to various social and economic problems. And the study try to grasp the fact that due to the unethical of Neo-liberalism. After the presentation by the Catholic ethic on economic Neo-liberalism, we proposed the position of the Catholic Church that the establishment of an ethical framework of human dignity, the common good and solidarity are required on the basis of the economic system and economic activity.
In Chapter 2, we are looking at the concept of alternative economic area of social economy that can overcome the immorality of the Neo-liberalism, and exploring the representative of organizations such as social enterprises and cooperatives. Namely, the study emphasizes the ethics with the cooperative by understanding people-oriented operation of social economy which pursue and realize the social value in ethical system. For this reason, we explore the ethical values contained in the values ​​and principles of cooperatives operating principles that are the foundation of revealing the identity of cooperatives. In other words, the study emphasize that cooperative is organization which is taking an ethical management approach based on people-oriented economic activity. Also, by considering the relationship between social enterprises and cooperatives, the study found a common point with two organization’s operating principles that prioritize people rather than capital based on solidarity and cooperation, and explored about the Catholic spirit and vision of the social cooperatives to overcome the limitations of both organizations. Finally, the study identifies the unique features of social cooperatives that operate on the basis of non-profit spirit, and aim at realization of the public benefit and social value beyond the common benefits of their members through solidarity and cooperation.
In Chapter 3, by examining intensively about Church teachings and position on cooperatives, and the spirit and ethics of cooperative, Our approach suggests practical proposal regarding the Catholic cooperatives. By revealing their views on the cooperative appeared in church document on the social doctrine to this cooperative subject, we try to prove whether spirit and ethics of cooperatives is appropriate to the social doctrine by exploring that cooperatives’ subject, purpose and method is associated closely with the basic principles of human dignity, the common good , the principle of solidarity of the Catholic Social Doctrine. Thus, as specific plan for Catholic cooperatives settlement which formed and operated on the basis of Catholic spirit and ethics, our approach builds a practical suggestion by presenting the cooperation between the church social welfare service and social cooperatives, the cooperative education of the diocese and the parish community, and Catholic proposal of the cooperative movement.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 현 시대를 지배하고 있는 신자유주의의 비윤리성과 이에 따른 교회의 역할에 대한 고민에서 시작되었다. 즉 현대사회에서 부각되고 있는 다양한 문제점들이 신자유주의의 비윤리성에서 비롯되었다는 사실에 주목하여 교회가 제시하는 올바른 방향, 곧 경제체제의 윤리적 체계를 바탕으로 도덕적인 질서 안에서 경제활동을 하는 구체적인 모델을 연구하고자 하였다.
이에 가톨릭 사회교리의 관점과 가르침에 입각하여 현대사회의 경제체제를 조명하고 분석함으로써 가톨릭의 경제윤리관을 살펴보고 협동조합이라는 조직체가 사회 교리적으로 타당한지 윤리 신학적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 자세히 말하면 가톨릭 사회교리의 기본적인 가르침에 입각하여 현대사회를 지배하는 경제체제인 신자유주의에 대해 성찰함으로써 신자유주의의 경제구조 안에 나타난 비윤리성을 진단하고, 도덕성이 결여된 현 경제체제의 대안으로서 사회적 경제의 조직인 협동조합의 개념을 제시하고자 한다. 이로써 협동조합의 복음적 정신과 윤리관 곧, 인간이 중심이 되는 인본주의의 바탕 아래 사회교리의 기본원리를 구체적으로 실현하는 경제활동의 모델인 가톨릭 협동조합의 도입에 관한 실천적인 제언을 하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 본 논문은 총 3장으로 구성되어 있고 각장의 대략적인 내용은 다음과 같다.
먼저, 1장에서는 현대사회의 경제체제와 인간의 구체적인 삶의 영역을 지배하고 있는 신자유주의의 개념, 쟁점, 폐해에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 결국 신자유주의의 비도덕성을 탐구하고자 하였다. 즉 진정한 의미의 인간의 자유가 아닌 규제와 윤리적 규범 없이 시장의 극단적인 자유만을 강조하는 신자유주의의 모순을 파악하고자 하였다. 그 폐해의 대표적인 예로 무분별한 경쟁과 효율 중시, 사회적 양극화의 심화, 노동의 가치 상실, 과도한 소비문화, 금융자본의 비도덕성과 기업윤리의 도덕성 상실을 제시함으로써 신자유주의의 비윤리성을 부각시키고자 하였다.
달리 말해 신자유주의 안에서 인간의 가치가 상실되고 자본과 시장의 가치가 극대화되는 경향이 다양한 사회·경제적 문제들을 초래하고 이는 신자유주의의 비윤리성에 기인한다는 사실을 파악하고자 하였다. 이후 신자유주의에 관한 가톨릭의 경제윤리관을 제시함으로써 경제체제와 경제활동의 바탕에 인간 존엄성, 공동선과 연대성이라는 윤리적 체계의 확립이 요구된다는 가톨릭교회의 입장을 제시하였다.
2장에서는 신자유주의의 비도덕성을 극복할 수 있는 대안경제영역인 사회적 경제의 개념을 간략히 살펴보고 그 대표적인 조직체인 사회적 기업과 협동조합에 관하여 탐구하고자 하였다. 자세히 말해 자본이 아닌 인간이 중심이 되는 윤리적 체계 안에서 사회적 가치를 추구하고 실현하는 사회적 경제의 인간 중심의 작동방식을 파악함으로써 협동조합이 지닌 윤리성을 부각시키고자 하였다. 이를 위해 협동조합의 정체성을 드러내고 운영원리의 토대가 되는 협동조합의 가치와 원칙에 담긴 윤리적 가치들을 탐구하였다. 즉 협동조합이 인간 중심적 경제활동을 바탕으로 윤리적 경영방식을 취하고 있는 조직체임을 강조하고자 하였다. 더불어 사회적 기업과 협동조합 간의 관계에 대하여 고찰함으로써 연대와 협동을 기반으로 자본보다는 사람을 우선시하는 운영원리에서 두 조직의 공통점을 찾고 두 조직의 한계를 극복하는 사회적 협동조합의 가톨릭 정신과 비전에 대하여 탐구하였다. 결국 연대와 협력을 통해 조합원의 공동의 이익을 넘어서 사회적 가치와 공익의 실현을 목적에 두고 비영리정신을 바탕으로 운영되는 사회적 협동조합의 고유한 특징을 파악하고자 하였다.
3장에서는 협동조합에 대한 교회의 가르침과 입장, 협동조합의 정신과 윤리관에 관하여 집중적으로 살펴봄으로써 가톨릭 협동조합의 관한 실천적 제언을 하였다. 이를 위해 사회 교리에 관한 교회 문헌 속에 나타난 협동조합에 대한 견해를 밝히고 협동조합의 주체, 목적, 방법이 가톨릭 사회 교리의 기본원리인 인간 존엄성, 공동선, 연대성의 원리와 긴밀하게 연관되어 있음을 탐구함으로써 협동조합의 정신과 윤리관이 사회 교리적으로 타당한지를 입증하였다. 따라서 가톨릭의 정신과 윤리관을 바탕으로 형성되고 운영되는 가톨릭 협동조합의 정착을 위한 구체적인 방안으로 교구와 본당공동체의 협동조합에 관한 교육, 가톨릭 협동조합운동의 추진, 교회의 사회복지사업과 사회적 협동조합간의 협력 구축을 제시함으로써 실천적 제언을 하였다.
