Hyperlipidemia is conmonly obserbed in diabetics and the cardiovarcular complications associated with hyperlipidemia is main cause of death in diabetics.
Though the diabetic populations are increasing in Korea, there are rare reports for the lipid profiles in diabetics.
We analized the lipid profiles in 97 type Ⅱ, NIDDM and in 64 age and sex matched normal controls,
Following results are obtained:
1. In normal controls, HDL-cholesterol concentration decreased with increasing age but statistically not significant. In females of normal controls, HDL-cholesterol concentration was slightly higher than that of males but statistically not significant.
2. Total cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio and LDL-cholesterol/HDL-cholesterol ratio were significantly higher in 5th decade than in 4th decade. Other lipids and lipoproteins were also increased in 5th decade but statistically not
