화성시 학교 밖 청소년의 삶의 경험에 관한 연구 = A study on the life experiences of out-of-school youth living in Hwaseong-si

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 화성시에 거주하는 학교 밖 청소년들의 삶의 경험을 통해 그들을 깊이 이해할 수 있는 기초가 되며 이 연구가 학교 밖 청소년들을 돕는 지원 방법 개발을 탐색하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 이를 위하여, 2020년 9월부터 11월에 화성시 학교밖 청소년지원센터 이용하고 있는 5명의 청소년을 선정하여 심층면접을 실시하였다. 조사결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학업을 중단하게 되는 과정은 청소년 개인마다 다른 모양으로 나타났다. 친구들의 자퇴에 영향, 새로운 환경에 대한 적응문제 및 대인관계의 어려움을 통해 학업중단을 결정하게 되는 과정이 보였다. 또한, 학업중단 결정에 있어서 학교 선생님과 관계의 어려움이 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 보였으며 가족관계의 갈등이 가장 큰 심리적 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 학교 밖 청소년들 중에 긍정적인 방향으로 자신의 적성과 미래의 꿈을 위해 학업중단에 대하여 소신 있는 선택을 하는 경우도 보였다. 둘째, 학교 밖 청소년들의 세상 경험은 노동경험으로 압축되었다. 지금까지 학교에서 배울 수 없는 것들을 ‘일’을 통해 경험하고 있었으며 이는 학교 밖 청소년들의 성장 도구이며 길로 보였다. 또한 세상에 대한 무력감에 대한 경험은 앞으로 학교 밖 청소년들에 대한 지원정책에서 중요한 주제로 보였다. 셋째, 학교 밖 지원센터에서 청소년들의 긍정적 경험을 통해 보면 ‘배움’이라는 긍정적 경험, ‘진로개발’이라는 욕구 충족이 화두를 이루었다. 특히 학교 밖 지원센터 선생님들과의 관계를 통해 ‘어른’과의 새로운 관계 형성을 맺게 되며 신뢰를 쌓게 되는 면을 보였다. 학교 밖 지원센터에서 만난 친구들과의 친밀감은 청소년 시기에 긍정적 대인관계를 맺게 하는 경험을 하게 되고 이는 건강한 성인으로 성장함에 있어 중요한 요소로 보인다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore the development of support methods to help out-of-school youths living in Hwaseong-si through the life experiences of out-of-school youths. For this purpose, from September to November 2020, five youths using the Hwaseong out-of-school youth support center were selected and interviewed. The results of the investigation are as follows. First, the process of dropping out of school was different for each individual adolescent. The process of deciding to drop out of school was seen through the influence of friends dropping out, the problem of adaptation to the new environment, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. In addition, it was found that difficulties in relationships with school teachers and conflicts in family relationships had a significant influence on the decision to drop out of school. Among out-of-school youths, there were also cases where they made a confident choice about dropping out of school for their aptitudes and future dreams. Second, the world experiences of out-of-school youths were compressed into work experiences. In addition, the experience of feeling helpless to the world seemed to be an important topic in the support policy for out-of-school youth in the future. Third, adolescents' satisfaction with interpersonal relationships and programs experienced at the out-of-school support center was very high. The positive experience of 'learning' and the desire of 'career development' were fulfilled.
