욕망의 개혁:바울, 아우구스티누스, 칼빈을 딛고 라캉, 지젝과 대화하기 = Reformation of Desire: Dialogue with Lacan and Žižek on the Basis of Paul, Augustine and Calvin

Reformation is not just a matter of reforming the external systems of reli-gion or rituals. It is related to the far deeper aspect of desire and desiring.
The purpose of this article is to examine Paul’s understanding of the spiritu-al person who has the changed mind-set of desire, together with contextual interpretation of it by Augustine and John Calvin. Based upon this, we try to have a dialogue with Lacan and Žižek. They are the representative thinkers who dig down the matter of human desire in today’s world.
Especially Žižek does not confine his work in the area of philosophy and psychoanalysis. He tries to get involved in interpreting Paul. One of the main contact points is Romans 7. It is why we cannot avoid to talk about the matter of desire in today’s discussion of church reformation. This study tries to give a response to the call for reformation of Christianity from outside by such thinkers as Lacan and Žižek. At the same time, we try to give an alarm bell for the insiders of the church, who are mostly unaware of their present crisis and challenges. In both ways we try to suggest that the need for reformation is still very high in today’s church and the way of it is through reforming the deeper system of our desire and desiring.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

종교개혁은 단지 종교체제와 제의 등 외적 형식의 개혁에 그치지 않는다. 보다 내면적 차원에서 종교개혁은 욕망의 개혁을 지향하며 또한 거기에서부터시작된다. 본 연구는 욕망의 체계가 변화된 사람으로서의 새 사람 곧 성령의사람에 대한 바울의 가르침과 이와 관련된 아우구스티누스 및 칼빈의 당대상황에서의 욕망 해석이 어떤 것인지를 살피고, 이를 바탕으로 이 시대 욕망이해에 집중하는 사상가들과의 대화를 시도하고자 한다. 특히 라캉과 지젝은 이 문제를 가장 핵심적인 철학적 주제로 다루고 있는 사람들이다. 지젝의경우 이 논제를 단지 철학 및 정신분석학적 논제로 국한시키지 않고 직접바울해석에 개입시키고 있다. 이를 통해 지젝은 일종의 세속적 차원에서의기독교 개혁을 도모하고 있는 셈이다. 이는 이 시대의 종교개혁의 논의가 욕망 체계에 대한 포괄적 해석을 포함하지 않을 수 없는 하나의 당위를 제공한다. 이 연구를 통해 기대하는 학문적 효과는 대외적 측면에서는 욕망개혁으로서의 기독교 개혁을 부르짖는 세속적, 철학적 요구에 대한 답변의 제시이고, 내적으로는 이 시대의 교회개혁이 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 할 것인지에 대한 자아성찰적 방향제시이다. 한 면에서 우리는 종교 없이 종교개혁을 부르짖는 교회 밖의 사상가들에 대해 답해야 할 책임을 가진다. 동시에 우리는 종교개혁의 소중한 자산을 가지고 있으면서도 교회 밖의 사람들만큼도 개혁의 본질을 꿰뚫어보지 못하는 교회 자신의 한계와 빈약성을 반성해야할 필요를 가진다. 이 양면에서 본 연구는 이 시대의 종교개혁의 정당성에 대한 방향제시에 기여코자 한다.
