Based on previous study of solvability factors, the current study drew factors that might affect swiftness of crime solving in South Korea. This study derived factors available from 2011 Official Police Crime Statistics including crime incident report, arrest report, and offender report. Using various statistical techniques, such as multivariate OLS, Logistic regression, and Negative Binomial regression. The final results showed in 5 serious crimes(murder, rape, robbery, burglary, assault) that 1) patrol officers’ policing activities significantly increase swiftness of arresting offenders, 2) there were different solvability factors for different types of crimes. Based on the results, policy implications are suggested.
