The purpose of this study is to compare the poverty policies of female headed family with dependent children in Sweden, United Kingdom and United States. The poverty policies to this kind of family can be classified into the three types by family ideas which each poverty policies are based on. In Sweden, the poverty policy to female headed households is based on the idea of egalitarian family, so can be called as a poverty policy based on equality. In United Kingdom, poverty policy to this kind of family is based on the idea of nuclear family, and focus on protection of this kind of family by income assistance. So it can be conceptualized as poverty policy based on protection. The poverty policy to female-headed family in United States is based on the same family idea with United Kingdom, but the focus of it is to control the occurrence of this kind of family. So it can be called as a poverty policy based on control.
