한국 노인이 일터에서 경험하는 연령차별과 우울 간 관계: 성별의 조절효과를 중심으로 = The Relationship Between Age Discrimination in the Workplace and Depressive Symptoms among Korean Older Adults: The Moderating Role of Gender

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 경제활동에 참여하고 있는 노인을 대상으로 일터에서 경험하는 연령차별과 우울 간의 관계에서 성별의상호작용 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 한국보건사회연구원에서 실시한 2020 노인실태조사 자료를 활용하여 현재 수입이 있는 일을 하고있다고 응답한 65세 이상 노인 3,752명을 대상으로 분석을 수행하였다. 인구통계학적 변수, 건강 관련 변수, 경제활동 관련 변수로구성된 통제변수와 독립변수, 조절변수, 상호작용 변수를 순서대로 투입한 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 일터에서 경험한 연령차별의 주효과와 성별의 조절효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 일터에서의 연령차별 경험과 우울 간 관계는 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 연령차별 경험이 있다고 응답한 노인일수록 높은 우울 증상을 보고하였다. 조절변수인 성별은 유의한 주효과를 보이지 않았으나, 일터에서의 연령차별 경험과 우울 간의 관계에서 성별의 조절효과는 유의미하였다. 일터에서 연령차별을 경험한 여성 노인과 남성 노인모두 연령차별을 경험하지 않았다고 응답한 노인보다 더 높은 우울 점수를 보고했으며 남성 노인보다 여성 노인에게서 일터에서의연령차별과 우울의 관계가 더 큰 관련성을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 노인 집단 내 이질성과 다양성을 고려하여 노년기 노동에서경험하는 연령차별과 심리적 건강 사이의 관계를 보다 구체적으로 규명할 필요성을 제시한다.
