티칭 포트폴리오 개발을 통한 수업의 효과성 탐색 = An exploration on the effectiveness of instruction through the teaching portfolio development

The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of instruction through the teaching portfolio development in higher education. The research method of this study is to analyze a development process and application cases of the teaching portfolio(a course portfolio) in three universities by the qualitative and quantitative study. For this study, twenty-two professors participated in the development process of the teaching portfolio during the second semester, 2008. During this study, we offered materials which are required the development process of the teaching portfolio throughout total seven times. And we analyzed it by triangulation techniques, a middle and a post interview, and a pre/post questionnaire survey.
Professors who participated in this study stated that they were a great help for improving teaching competency from the development process of the teaching portfolio. Especially, in the pre/post questionnaire survey, there were significant differences in the scores of the establishment of teaching philosophy(P1), the suggestion of objectives before instruction(P2), the utilization of various instructional media(P4), an immediate feedback after tasks and evaluations(O3), the degree of teaching satisfaction(O2), the results of instructional evaluation from students(R2) and the self-reflection about teaching activities(R1). Through this study, we expect that the teaching portfolio will contribute to improve a quality of the teaching competency, to reflect educational achievements evaluation, and to select best teaching awards in higher education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 수업의 질적 향상을 위한 방안으로 티칭 포트폴리오 개발을 통한 수업의 효과성을 탐색하였다. 본 연구를 위해 대학 교수자 22명을 대상으로 2008학년도 2학기(9월-12월) 동안 본인 개설 강좌 중 1개를 선정하여 일정에 따라 티칭 포트폴리오를 개발토록 하였으며, 개발 기간 중 총 7차에 걸친 티칭 포트폴리오 개발 관련 자료를 제공하였다. 티칭 포트폴리오 개발 과정을 분석하기 하기 위하여 중간 및 사후 인터뷰, 사전 및 사후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 중간 및 사후 인터뷰는 반구조화된 질문방식으로 이루어졌으며, 사전 및 사후 설문조사는 총 22개 문항으로, 설문조사 결과는 빈도분석과 대응표본 T검증을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 티칭 포트폴리오 개발에 참여한 교수자들은 개발 과정을 통하여 자신의 수업을 되돌아보는 계기가 되었으며, 수업계획을 세우거나 자료를 체계적으로 정리해 보는데 큰 의의가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 사전․사후 설문조사 결과, 거의 모든 항목에서 사후설문조사의 결과가 긍정적으로 높게 나타났으며, 특히 교육철학의 정립(P1), 수업 도입 시 수업목표 제시(P2), 다양한 매체 활용(P4), 과제 또는 평가 후 즉각적인 피드백 제공(O3), 수업에 대한 만족도(O2), 학생들의 수업평가 결과 향상(R2), 수업에 대한 성찰(R1) 등에서는 유의한 차이를 발견할 수 있었다. 이는 이번 티칭 포트폴리오 개발을 계기로 참여 교수자들이 평상시에 비해 교수활동에 더 많은 노력을 기울인 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구를 통해 제시된 티칭 포트폴리오의 개발 사례는 대학 수업의 질적 향상뿐만 아니라 차후 티칭 포트폴리오 개발을 교육업적평가에 반영하거나 우수수업상 선정요건에 포함하는 방안으로도 활용 가능할 것으로 본다.
