의학전문대학원 1, 2학년 학생들의 스트레스 위험도와 관련요인 = Risk of Stress and Related Factors Among 1st and 2nd Year Students of Graduate Medical School

Objectives : The purpose of the present study was to investigate risk factors that may influence stress among 1st and 2nd year students of graduate medical school. Methods : Eighty students participated in this study from Jeju graduate medical school in December 2014. 39 (48.8%) and 41 (51.3%) were 1st and 2nd year students, respectively. They filled out self-completing questionnaires on sociodemographic factors, health related factors, stress and depressive symptoms. Psychosocial Well-being Index (PWI) was used to measure level of stress and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) was used to measure depressive symptoms. Results : The results showed that about 66.25% of students had some degree of stress (PWI＞23). The multiple logistic regression analysis identified risk factors for students with stress. Females were more likely than males (OR=11.198, p=0.024) and 2nd year students were more likely than 1st year (OR=12.980, p=0.011) to experience stress. Students with higher SDS score (depression) had much experienced stress (OR=1.578, p＜0.001). Conclusion : The risk factors for stress among students of graduate medical school were female gender, 2nd class year and higher SDS score (depression). Identification of students who are at risk of excessive stress will help the educator to deal effectively with such students at the earliest.
