The electrodeposited nickel inverse opal electrode was utilized for template of cathode for lithium-sulfur batteries. As the inverse opal electrode provides a three-dimensionally ordered macroporous stucture, it could be highly conductive and robust toward electrochemical cycling. The nickel inverse opal electrode was fabricated via the hardtemplate method by employing hard template, self-assembled polystyrene spheres. Nickel inverse opal structure on the substrate was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The nickel inverse opal electrode could use the template of cathode to infuse sulfur.
