한강의 시원 정립에 관한 불교적인 영향 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 전통적인 한강의 시원인식의 특징에 관해 모색해 본 것이다. 전통적인 관점에서 한강의 시원으로 제기되는 곳인 于筒水와 金剛淵은 공히 文殊聖地인 五臺山 月精寺 영역에 위치하고 있다. 또한 우통수에 대한 최초의 기록 역시 월정사와 관련된『三國遺事󰡕 에 등장하고 있으며, 금강연과 같은 경우는 명칭에서부터 지극히 불교적이다. 이와 같은 측면은 한강의 시원에 대한 인식 성립에 있어서 불교적인 영향을 인지해 볼 수가 있도록 해 주는 기본적인 측면들이다.
한강의 시원 인식에 있어서의 불교적인 영향을 고찰함에 있어서, 먼저 제Ⅱ장에서는 한강의 전통적인 시원인식에 대한 문헌적인 측면을 정리하였다.
제Ⅱ장을 기초로 제Ⅲ장에서는 우통수와 금강연의 불교적인 관계성을 정리해 보았다. 그리고 이와 더불어 본 제Ⅲ장에서는 우통수와 금강연의 특수성에 관해서도 정리하였는데, 이는 제Ⅳ장의 아뇩달지와 비교를 시도하기 위한 기본적인 측면이라고 하겠다.
마지막 제Ⅳ장을 통해서 우통수와 금강연에 대한 관점들이 인도 4大 江의 시원지로 인식되는 阿耨達池의 구조와 내용적인 면에서 높은 상관관계를 형성하고 있다는 점을 지적해 보았다. 이는 인도 강의 시원인식이 불교를 통해서 우리에게까지 영향을 미치고 있다는 점을 분명히 해주는 부분이라고 하겠다.
이상의 접근을 통해 우통수와 금강연은 단순히 위치와 명칭에 있어서만 불교적인 영향을 받은 것이 아니라, 그 내용적인 부분 역시도 불교와 깊은 상관관계를 확보하고 있다는 점을 분명히 해 보았다. 이는 앞으로의 한강 시원에 대한 문제에 있어서 불교가 결코 유리될 수 없다는 것을 의미한다.
불교는 오랜 세월을 우리민족과 함께하면서 공동의 문화를 형성해 왔다. 이와 같은 측면을 우리는 한강의 시원에 대한 인식에도 불교적인 영향이 녹아 있다는 점을 통해서 다시 한 번 더 확인해 볼 수가 있게 된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is to investigate the characteristics of recognition about the origin of the Han River. The traditional origins of the Han River are the Utongsu and the Geumgangyeon, both of which are located in the precinct of Waljeongsa Temple of Odaesan Mt., a Munsu Holy Land.
And the first record on the Utongsu comes in the <Samguk Yusa>(Remained History of Three Kingdoms) in relation with the Waljeongsa. The name of the Geumgangyeon is
very Buddhist. These are the basic points that we can find the Buddhist influence on the establishment of recognition about the origin of the Han River.
In consideration of the Buddhist influence on the origin recognition of the Han River, the traditional recognition on the origin of the Han River was first surveyed from the documents in Chapter 2.
Based on Chapter II, Chapter III deals with the Buddhist relation between the Utongsu and the Geumgangyeon. Along with it, Chapter III also explains the special characteristics of the Utongsu and the Geumgangyeon. It is a basic research to compare them with the Anavatapta in Chapter IV.
Finally, Chapter IV deals with the high correlation in the structure and the contents between the viewpoint on the Utongsu and the Geumgangyeon and that on the Anavatapta which is considered as the origin of 4 great rivers in India.
It clearly shows the influence of the Buddhist recognition about the Indian rivers on our society. Through this approach, it was explained that the Utongsu and the Geumgangyeon were deeply influenced by the Buddhism not only in their names but also in their contents.
It means that the Buddhism cannot be alienated from the problem about the origin of the Han River.
The Buddhism has formed the common culture along with our people for a long time. It can be confirmed once again through this that the Buddhist influence is melted in our recognition on the origin of the Han River.
